HealthGrid Africa is on a mission to democratise healthcare access across Nigeria. We believe that quality healthcare guidance should not be limited by geography, language, or economic status.
Through our AI-powered WhatsApp triage system, we are bringing intelligent health assessments to millions of Nigerians in the languages they speak, on the platform they already use every day.
The Problem We Solve
Nigeria faces a critical healthcare access challenge:
- Only 4 doctors per 10,000 people (WHO recommends 10)
- 67% of healthcare facilities are in urban areas, leaving rural communities underserved
- Language barriers prevent millions from accessing proper health information
- Long wait times and overcrowded facilities delay critical care
HealthGrid addresses these challenges by providing instant, multilingual health triage that guides patients to the right level of care at the right time.
Our Approach
We have built Jewel, an AI health assistant that lives on WhatsApp. Jewel speaks English, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, and Pidgin, making healthcare guidance accessible to over 200 million Nigerians.
Our four-tier triage system (Emergency, Urgent, Semi-Urgent, Routine) ensures patients receive appropriate guidance, whether they need immediate emergency care or simple self-care advice.
