Please read these terms carefully before using HealthGrid Africa services.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using HealthGrid Africa services, including our WhatsApp-based AI health triage system ("Jewel"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and HealthGrid Technologies Inc. ("HealthGrid", "we", "us", or "our").
2. Service Description
HealthGrid Africa provides an AI-powered health triage service delivered via WhatsApp. Our service:
- Provides general health information and triage guidance
- Helps assess symptom urgency
- Suggests appropriate levels of care
- Connects users with healthcare providers when appropriate
Important: HealthGrid does NOT provide medical diagnoses, prescriptions, or treatment plans. Our service is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of qualified healthcare providers with any questions regarding medical conditions.
3. Eligibility
To use our services, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age, or have parental/guardian consent if under 18
- Have access to WhatsApp
- Provide accurate information about yourself and your symptoms
- Not use the service for any unlawful purpose
4. User Responsibilities
When using HealthGrid services, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information about your symptoms and health history
- Follow emergency instructions when provided (call 199, 112, or 767 for emergencies)
- Seek professional medical care as recommended
- Not rely solely on our service for medical decisions
- Not use the service to obtain information for illegal purposes
- Not attempt to reverse engineer or misuse the AI system
5. Emergency Situations
HealthGrid is NOT an emergency service. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please:
- Call 199 (National Emergency)
- Call 112 (Universal Emergency)
- Call 767 (Lagos State Emergency - LASEMA)
- Go to your nearest hospital emergency department
Our AI system is designed to detect potential emergencies and will direct you to seek immediate care when appropriate. However, you should always use your own judgement in emergency situations.
6. Fees and Payment
Some HealthGrid services may be free, while others may require payment:
- AI Triage: Basic symptom assessment may be provided at no cost
- HMO Coverage: If you are covered by an HMO partner, services may be included in your plan
- Pay-per-use: Certain premium services may require payment via Paystack or other payment methods
All fees will be clearly disclosed before you incur any charges.
7. Privacy and Data Protection
Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using our services, you consent to our data practices as described in that policy.
We are committed to protecting your health information in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and other applicable regulations.
8. Intellectual Property
All content, software, and technology used in HealthGrid services are owned by or licensed to HealthGrid Technologies Inc. You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute our content without permission
- Use our trademarks without authorisation
- Reverse engineer our AI systems or software
- Scrape or extract data from our services
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- HealthGrid provides services "as is" without warranties of any kind
- We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of health information provided
- We are not liable for any decisions made based on our triage guidance
- Our total liability shall not exceed the fees paid by you in the 12 months prior to the claim
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HealthGrid Technologies Inc., its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of our services or violation of these terms.
11. Modifications to Terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on our website or through our WhatsApp service. Your continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to our services at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason. You may stop using our services at any time.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. For matters relating to our Canadian operations, the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada shall apply.
